About us
Roslin Foundation was established in 2008 following the merger of the former Roslin Institute with the University of Edinburgh. The Institute’s research activities and associated assets were integrated into the University, while the remaining assets were retained by Roslin Foundation. The Roslin Institute, renowned for creating Dolly the Sheep – the world’s first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell – remains a global leader in animal biosciences. The Roslin Foundation is dedicated to advancing research and development in biosciences, particularly in agriculture and biomedicine, through its strong collaboration with the Roslin Institute.
Our mission remains consistent with the Institute’s founding goals: to support research and business development in biosciences, particularly in agriculture and biomedicine. We aim to inspire the next generation of scientists to enter this exciting field, engage with current scientists to faster innovative ideas, and promote out objectives on a global scale.
We accomplish this by funding PhD studentships in relevant disciplines, collaborating with established scientists through external funding for groundbreaking projects, and leveraging our reputation and partnerships to advance our initiatives internationally.
