About us

Roslin Foundation was established in 2008 following the merger of the former Roslin Institute with the University of Edinburgh. The Institute’s research activities and associated assets were integrated into the University, while the remaining assets were retained by the Roslin Foundation. The Roslin Institute, renowned for creating Dolly the Sheep – the world’s first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell – remains a global leader in animal biosciences. The Roslin Foundation is dedicated to advancing research and development in biosciences, particularly in agriculture and biomedicine, through its strong collaboration with the Roslin Institute.
